Hear ye! Hear ye!
Tis’ a jolly time to be a freelancer.
In a bid to boost creativity in Dubai, Dubai Airport Free Zone has launched a new freelance visa pass crafted for professionals in media, art, culture, technology, and education.
Here’s everything you should know.
What is the talent pass?
The talent pass is a freelance licence being offered by DAFZ for members in the creative community (Photographers, writers, marketers, etc.)
How can you get it?
Unfortunately, it’s not gonna be easy to get a hold of the talent pass.
DAFZ has stated that they will evaluate and process applications for the ‘Talent Pass’. Only a select group will be authorised holders to practice commercial activities within the free zone.
What do you get?
The talent pass offers freelancers a three-year residence visa and a commercial licence.
“Dubai Culture and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs will also offer a golden visa to eligible talent pass holders validated by DAFZ,” Abdulaziz Al Hammadi, senior vice president – marketing and business growth at DAFZ said.
Why is this pass different?
Unlike some other freelance visas, you don’t need to rent a space in a free zone. But the option is there if you want it. And license holders can access a directory of free-zone companies. This means freelancers can generate business from within the free zone.
What documents do you need?
The free zone requires certain documentation from the applicants such as a CV, letter of recommendation, or portfolio to validate and authenticate talent.
However, if you’re a graduate in the specialised field, you can knock off the LoR.
How much will you shell out?
The talent pass costs Dh9,500 ($2,586) and is renewable annually. However, renewal charges will depend on your profile and field.
Will you apply for the ‘Talent Pass’?
